Purpose of the Bangalore (India) Tour

The Tour to Bangalore is a learning experience for them to learn both through training and playing fixtures with coaching support from the selected local coaches.

The Key Learning themes for the players would include:
Wicket Keeping – How do we adjust our posture and movements to adapt to pitches that turn and bounce?
Batters – How do we bat in spinner friendly conditions (Like we might experience later in the County Festivals on days 4&5), what skills do we need to acquire and how do we plan what options to score we take and use, how should our technique change in these conditions?
Spin bowlers – There comes an expectation that when it is spinner friendly you need to be able to take wickets, with this pressure the bowlers need to work out what pace to bowl, what type of spin to apply on the ball and how to plan their spell and adjust their fields to succeed against batters who can face good quality spin bowling.
Pace Bowlers – It is a wonderful opportunity to learn a little about reverse swing as the ball gets into that stage earlier, but also work out plans to alternate between hunting for wickets and applying pressure to the batter. Their line/length will be different to England, the movement off the pitch Is also different so to develop the ability to change pace, seam the ball is going to be important.

Training/Playing Venue

Just Cricket Academy – Bangalore. They have hosted various National youth teams such as England and Ireland – https://www.justcric.com/gallery/

We have planned fixtures at the venue and training days (See below) the training sessions will be spread around the entire day to help build technical and tactical skills to help the players adjust to conditions in Bangalore and test what they learn in live games, then reflect with the coaches and keep developing.

On day 1, we shall start with a 30 over game to see how our players perform without much assistance, the coaches can then work out individual plans for the players for training sessions.

Games will be 40-50 over cricket, we shall have a T20 day of games too. 11 can bat and everyone can bowl and field.

Training Structure – We have group sessions and skill sessions where we might focus on specific skills as a group (Or scenarios) or 121. We have coaches available to 121 coach the players individually on grass wickets with people to bowl/side arm/bat against.

We plan to have 1 rest day (With a morning of training) to watch an IPL Game (subject to the fixtures fitting our schedule) and to tour so they see some of Bangalore.

We shall have 8-9 Days of Training/playing so there is a lot of cricket on the trip.

Meals

We shall have breakfast in the mornings at the Hotel, Lunch is provided at the Cricket Academy, they have options of Continental food and Indian Food, as it is hot over there the lunches will be lighter, then an evening meal before we depart the site for the hotel. Players will only drink bottled water for the trip and will have regular opportunities to keep hydrating in advance.
