Players Aged 9-16 Years old who are starting or currently are on County Pathways and are the stronger players at club level. The Sessions focus on: Technical development (i.e. learning the ability to place the ball into spaces, develop power hitting options, bowling variations, being a wicket taking threat in the field with faster releases, diving and throwing at various Arm Slots), Strength and Conditioning, the Mental Approach, Developing Game Plans through Tactical challenges.

The level 2 Cricket Skill Development Programme focuses on Technical Development of the player for: Batting, Bowling and Fielding. We begin to fuse Strength and Conditioning and look into the fine details of Game Plans, our approach to a bowling spell or batting innings or in the field looking to become a wicket taking threat.

Fielding:

  • Developing their split step and timing of that to suit their needs, being able to Dive, Tumble, stop, catch and throw whilst being in the air and find ways to release the ball quicker with shorter exchange times of the ball. We work on developing their catches in multiple directions and using their entire body to throw and follow through safely.

Bowling:

  • Adding Strength and Conditioning for the various segments of the bowling action and skill acquisition drills to help players practice at home to make changes to their technique quicker.

Batting :

  • We develop finer skills and look at Low vs High Risk options, using the crease/guards to access different parts of the ground, bat paths to give our batters the best opportunity to strike the ball more consistently, developing bat speed and the mindset to beat a fielder by scoring runs 360 degrees around each fielder. Planning the innings and adapting to the field set, by dropping the ball to run we encourage the fielders to start closer to us then we create more space behind/over them and by striking the ball harder they have less reaction time thus the gaps are larger.

Additional Support:

  • Weekly Zoom calls to go over the content taught that weekend, parents can then understand how to practice at home and send in practice footage for review.
